On Friday 3/29 The Union Schoolhouse will be hosting a simulcast of “Secret Church” – This is a 6 hour church service – from their about us page:

When we think of “church” in America, we think of going to meet at a building, singing, praying and hearing a message from a Pastor or teacher. But in many places around the world, “church” meets in a home, an apartment, even in secret. These small groups of Christ-followers often meet for many hours in study, prayer and fellowship, as it is dangerous to travel to “church” and they want to make the most of their time together.

Secret Church is our “house church,” where we meet periodically for an intense time of Bible study–lasting 4-6 hours–and prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters across the globe. This is not for the uncommitted or faint at heart. But if you desire to know God more deeply through His Word, and know His Church more fully around the world, then please join us for Secret Church.

God will use this focused time of study to enrich our knowledge of His Word as we gain understanding of the state of His Church and our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. The objective of Secret Church is for you to pass along what you learn to others, so that you can make disciples of Christ–both locally and globally.

The topic for this year’s secret church is “Heaven, Hell, and the End of the World”. Also from their site:

Heaven. Hell. The End of the World. For Christians and non-Christians alike, these topics provoke a variety of emotions and reactions: curiosity, confusion, joy, hope, fear, anticipation, or maybe even anger. Sadly, these critical topics are often embellished, fantasized, diluted, abused, or altogether avoided in our day. So what does the Bible say about these things? Is the Apocalypse upon us? Do we know what heaven will be like? What about hell? Is it literal? Is it eternal? How do we even begin to think about these mind-blowing realities? During this Secret Church, we will explore God’s Word in search of answers to these questions and more. In the end, we will discover that despite of all the controversy surrounding heaven, hell, and the end of the world, several things are clear: Christ will come back, Satan will be defeated, all men will be judged, and the glory of God will cover the earth like the waters cover the sea. And by the end of the night, hopefully and humbly we will walk away with a cry on our lips and a testimony in our lives that echoes the final cry of the Scriptures: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

This event is open to anyone in the area who wishes to come and spend 6 hours learning, studying, worshiping and praying for the worldwide persecuted church. Space will be limited due to winter parking at the Schoolhouse, so please RSVP with us via e-mail if you plan on coming: mike@straightpathsql.com .

If you plan on coming we need RSVPs by Thursday March 14th so we can get the right number registered and order the right number of study guides.

There will be no cost for this event, we will cover the cost of the simulcast fee – if you wish to make a donation to help here that is welcome, but not required.  If you wish to bring a snack or drink for yourself or to share with others, that will be fine. We will have water, coffee, tea and a few light snack options available plus whatever anyone brings for sharing.
