Sewing Classes

Beginner Sewing Class (no experience needed). Students will become familiar with basic sewing terminology, equipment and techniques through a series of simple projects to begin with. They will learn the parts of a sewing machine and how to perform basic sewing techniques. Afterward, they will be allowed to choose a project that will help them become more independent sewers after demonstrating basic proficiency.
On the first and third Friday of the month beginning on October 4th from 12:00-1:30.
Space is limited so if interested, please contact me with the following information:
Students name, age, a brief description of any prior sewing experience, and whether or not you have a sewing machine available to you.

Advanced Sewing Class (previous experience with sewing machine required). Students will be learning how to read and follow a pattern by developing the skills/techniques necessary to complete a basic pattern.
However, if the student has already followed a pattern, they will be allowed to choose a pattern that will challenge them. Note: I will give a review of the sewing machine and students will need to demonstrate proficiency with the basics beforehand!
A Sewing machine is needed, if you don’t have one but are interested, please contact me and I can try to find you one. If you have one but aren’t real familiar with it, please bring the instruction books with you so I can become familiar with your model.

NOTE: I know we are very busy as homeschoolers. After the first two classes, I am very flexible about attendance and times. Come when you can and learn what you can. Don’t feel if you can’t commit to every class that you can’t join us. Please contact me if you are in this situation.

A special note: I taught sewing for six years as part of a required curriculum that I wrote in an inner city public school setting at the middle school level. I have worked with severely disabled students, both mentally and physically, so if you have any questions regarding your child’s ability to participate, please contact me.
