Who can attend this formal?
This formal is intended for any homeschool student who is at least 14 years old or in 9th grade and not older than 20 years old. A non-homeschooled guest may be invited if they meet the age requirements. (Parents may use their discretion in allowing their mature 13 year old teens to attend.)
Do I have to bring a date?
No. We are planning the formal to be a wonderful, fun night for everyone, whether you are coming alone, with a group of friends, or with a date.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. This is a formal, dressy event. Ladies:Please use your utmost discretion when selecting a gown. Modest, appropriate formal wear should be worn. Long gowns are encouraged but not required. Plunging necklines are not permitted. For your benefit, please make sure that your dress stays “secure” when you jump up and down, wiggle, or any other dance move. You will have a much more enjoyable evening if you are not fighting your dress all night. Gentlemen: Suit or dress pants with collared, button up shirt and neck tie or bow tie is required. Jeans are not acceptable formal attire.
Are parents allowed to stay?
Parents are invited to stay for the first 30 minutes for photos. We then ask parents to leave until pick-up time. The event will be supervised by our chaperones.
What kind of music will be played? What kind dancing/behavior is permitted?A variety of great dance music: pop, country, oldies, disco, and Christian…only clean lyrics. There should be something to suit everyone. Dancing must remain clean and appropriate. Suggestive dancing will not be permitted. PDA (public displays of affection) will not be permitted. Kissing, cuddling not permitted.
What does ticket price include?
The Union Schoolhouse will be elegantly transformed for a fun and memorable evening with friends! A buffet of finger foods, dessert and beverages will be served. Candid and more formal photos will be taken throughout the evening. Each guest will be given access to view these photos. A fun photo stand will also be set up. Ticket sales begin April 1st. Tickets are limited to the first 60 guests!
