Introduction to Poetry Class

I would like to offer a 6-week course that will introduce high school students to the wonders of poetry. We will cover topics such as how to read poetry aloud, how to understand poetry, and how tell if it’s poetry when it doesn’t even rhyme. We will look at rhyme, rhythm, imagery, and other literary techniques used in poetry. There will be one short poem to memorize. There will also be an essay explicating a poem of the student’s choosing as a final project.

When: Mondays, April 15-May 20 from 10:45 to 12:00

Where: Union Schoolhouse, Union, NH

Cost: $25 per family (This includes ONE text per family and a workbook/glossary for each student; more texts can be made available for an additional $10.)
